First loss of the season
By Berwick City
Our unbeaten run has come to an end.
Our boys were at home for the first time this season and in front of a good crowd were expected to continue their fine start to the season. With the sun shining and the ground in good condition there should have been no excuses. However, in a tight tussle, the Berwick boys never really managed to impose themselves against a very organised Brandon Park who scored first mid way through the first half after a defensive lapse. However, right on half time, Paul McEvoy popped up in the box and his calm turn and finish seemed to confuse the opposition keeper who struggled to get down to save and it was 1-1 going into the break.
The second half was a scrappy affair with Berwick trying to pass their way through an organised defence and the opposition playing a counter attacking game. With 15 minutes to go, Brandon Park got the winner from a set piece. A free kick was floated into the penalty area and and an unmarked Brandon Park player calmly headed in a simple header to make it 2-1.
It was a disappointing performance from Berwick who now head into the Easter break second on the ladder.
Our next game is away to Mooroolbark on Saturday 27 April @ 7pm.
